“THE HEART OF EDUCATION” - Using the heart brain to enhance student well-being, optimal learning and leadership development.
This workshop for educators is designed to share science, wisdom and practical tools relating to the critical importance of attending to the Heart Brain in education.
This presentation can be delivered as a half day or full day professional development for educators or tailored to a Keynote presentation or Breakout session.
Course Description
We are educating our children at a critical time in human history. A time of great change, fluctuation and crisis. Our students, as future leaders, face complex challenges. Yet sadly, statistics show the numbers of youth with depression and suicidal tendencies are at their highest ever. As a result of our modern world, many young people are disconnected, disheartened and disillusioned.
It is therefore crucial that we nourish the hearts and souls of our children, in addition to their minds. As educators we must equip our students with sophisticated intelligence to access their innate wisdom, to connect deeply with self and others. Student well being, the evolution of humanity and quite possibly the survival of our planet are dependent upon it.
Ancient traditions have spoken for thousands of years about the wisdom of the heart, of connection and compassion. And now, science is proving that this is not some fanciful idea. Latest neuroscience research shows that the heart is a bona-fide brain – a complex, adaptive neural network with neural transmitters that can store memory, has neuroplasticity and is a thinking, learning organism.
This presentation teaches simple techniques, evidenced with live biofeedback technology, that educators can use in the classroom to tap into heart intelligence to bring calm, compassion and connection. This enables students to learn more effectively, to live nourished lives and grow into wise leaders with sophisticated problem solving skills to tackle the challenges of the future.
Audience
It is for progressive schools and teachers who desire to make a real difference in the lives of their students and wish to create classrooms that support and nourish the whole child. The pedagogy shared is simple, yet powerful and practical, enabling teachers to deeply connect with themselves, their students and their mission in the world. · Develop teacher’s understanding of the neuroscience behind optimal learning and neuroplasticity, particularly in relation to the heart brain
· Enhance teacher fulfillment and job satisfaction
· Create powerful pedagogy in the classroom that promotes high standards of intellectual quality and improves learning outcomes of students from Kindergarten through to Year 12
Teachers will learn how to:
· Build deep rapport with students and create a connected classroom

TRANSFORMATIONAL TEACHING TACTICS – 5 Step system for quality teaching with effective learning
Course Description:
A student's well-being is critical to their success in the classroom and in life. The best learning takes place when a student feels happy, safe and connected to others. Neuroscience supports this fact and research proves that the brain cannot learn optimally if a student is under stress, experiencing anxiety or in a state of unhappiness. It is, therefore, imperative that as educators we become skilled in understanding and implementing ways to support our students' emotional and social well-being so that every student can reach their full potential.
